I found Everything Money back in 2018 when it was a podcast that had just started. I was drawn to Paul's business experience and wisdom. I have appreciated this community and the videos so much on my financial journey. Everything Money has helped me feel more confident as an investor and steward of my money. In 2021 I decided to take the time and study the investment assets my financial advisor at the time was recommending. Having had a bad experience with the dot com bubble burst at the turn of the millennium, I was already aware that news and sentiment, as bullish as they may be, are no good for choosing the right investments. So I turned to YouTube and soon enough I stumbled upon the EM channel: The approach Paul presented resonated with me because it offers a solid process rooted in the mathematics of financial numbers along with a critical look at the history of investing, over and above the qualitative aspects like the future of any given sector or the potential direction of any given company. The methodical process, particularly the eight pillars approach to screening and the logic behind each, made total sense and expanded on my then-limited understanding of valuation. So I subscribed and started using the software for assessing my investment decisions, with the stock analyzer tool becoming indispensable before starting any long position. Over the years I learned so much on various aspects, from understanding the importance of certain metrics like share buy-back, to getting technical tips from the community, some of which resulted in material savings by correcting my tax information. It is one thing to read the books on value investing and another to look into the numbers and forecast scenarios so conveniently using the EM software. I think of it as the bridge between the concepts of value investing and the motivation to actually get skin in the game: I recently got an alert from the software on a company stock hitting a target price I had set years ago, which I would have otherwise missed completely (that one got me a 7% upside in less than a week!). Unless one is planning to exit investing altogether, keeping the EM subscription and following the YT channel should be a staple.
